Carmen Mojica is an Afro-Dominican woman born and raised in the Bronx. The poet, writer, and workshop facilitator has published a poetry chapbook entitled "I Loved You Once" and "Hija De Mi Madre" (My Mother's Daughter), which combines memoirs, poems and research that explains the effects of race on identity. She facilitates a writing workshop series called, "From the Inside Out" that focuses on self-reflection and introspection, as well as a workshop called, "In Her Image", specifically aimed towards girls and young women and explores the effects of beauty standards on self-image and views on beauty. Mojica is a graduate from the State University of New York at New Paltz with a bachelor's degree in Black Studies and Television/Radio Productions.
